Introduction to Painting Workshop

In this fun and challenging one day workshop students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting with a still life of flowers as subject matter. Students may use either acrylic or oil paint. Master artists will be referenced and experienced tutor Ochre Lawson will demonstrate different painting and drawing techniques. 

You will learn about:

  • how to draw and paint from observation
  • how to measure basic proportions
  • how to see and paint tone
  • how to mix a tonal and limited colour palette 
  • About historical and contemporary artists
  • How to set up a painting palette, basic colours, brushes and materials

Introduction to Ink and Watercolour Landscape Workshop

In this fun and informative one day workshop you will learn the fundamentals of using watercolour and ink to render the landscape. Professional landscape artist Ochre Lawson will facilitate this workshop with demonstrations of different techniques using both ink pen, brush and watercolour. She will also talk about master artists and how they interpreted the landscape. This is an excellent workshop for students interested in drawing and painting the landscape and a great precursor to the en plein air workshop in December.

You will learn about:

  • How to divide space in the landscape 
  • Basics of landscape composition
  • Perspective and proportion in the landscape
  • How to use ink pen and brush
  • How to use limited watercolour 
  • About Chroma, Hue and Tonal effects 
  • About Master artists
